The Community Care Closet – The Little Thrift Store with a Big Heart

Tuesday to Thursday 10:00am to 2:00pm

Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm

In operation under Community Care for South Hastings since 2006, the Community Care Closet has happily served its patrons with personable volunteers and excellent low prices. Our customers enjoy our wonderful displays, spacious aisles, and great deals on gently used clothing and household items.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! We offer flexible working hours and various opportunities at the thrift store. We offer weekday shifts between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Duties can include opening and closing the store, keeping the store’s appearance neat and tidy, customer service and making change. There are also sorting opportunities for folks who prefer to work in the background organizing. Please reach out it this sounds like a position for you!

Have a donation for us? We gratefully accept clothing of all kinds and seasons in great condition. If you would wear it again, then please feel free to donate it to us. Unfortunately, any clothing that is ripped, stained, has missing buttons or broken zippers or is faded or worn will be discarded. We recycle and repurpose all donations wherever possible to avoid sending items to landfills. Donations should be brought in during store or office hours. Please do not leave donations outside on our steps.

Donations we can accept:

  • Clothing for all genders, sizes and seasons
  • Fashion accessories including footwear, belts, jewelry and purses.
  • Housewares: Small kitchen appliances, dishes, cookware, lamps, linens, décor
  • Entertainment: DVDs, CDs, games & puzzles, craft supplies, children’s toys in good condition
  • Some smaller furniture pieces if space allows: footstools, floor lamps, bar stools

Please note that there are some items that we are restricted from reselling due to federal safety standards. We will have to refuse these donations.  Some examples include most baby equipment (highchairs, playpens, car seats), sports & bicycle helmets and corded window coverings.

We make use of donations of recycled shopping bags, garbage bag tags and office supplies. All donations are accepted at our store or at the office next door at 293 Main Street. Our office hours are Mon – Fri 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (closed at lunch).
