In accordance with the Long Term Care Act (1994), “the agency shall determine the person’s eligibility for the services that the person requires.” {c.26,s.22 (1)}

MEALS ON WHEELS

Volunteers will deliver a hot and nutritious noon meal right to your home. Hot meals are available up to four times a week, and most special diets can be accommodated. TRANSPORTATION

A support service that provides escorted transportation to medical appointments, and essential shopping. Volunteer drivers are available to provide long distance and local transportation to medical, dental and therapy appointments, for those who qualify. A nominal cost applies.

CLIENT INTERVENTION AND ASSISTANCE

Client Intervention and Assistance is a service that provides crisis intervention and support in critical situations (risk of homelessness, abuse or isolation).  The situation is stabilized and a follow-up plan established.

SERVICE ARRANGEMENT/COORDINATION

A support service that arranges for an individual worker to help with cleaning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and a whole lot more! Fees are arranged between the worker and the client. Need some help?

TELEPHONE REASSURANCE/SECURITY CHECK

A regular telephone call provides friendship and reassurance to persons who are housebound or isolated. Calls are made by volunteers on a short or long-term arrangement.

FRIENDLY VISITING

A friendly visitor regularly visits clients in their homes, providing friendship and support. The volunteer may read, write letters, chat or go for a walk with the client. No fee for this service.

SOCIAL AND CONGREGATE DINING

Belleville Diners' Club - Enjoy a delicious meal every Tuesday at noon at Parkdale Community Centre with us. Reservations are required. The cost per person is $8.00. Please call 613-969-0130.

Thurlow Diners' Club - Join us at the Thurlow Diners' Club for a delicious lunch at noon every 4th Wednesday of the month at the Gerry Masterson Thurlow Community Centre. The cost is $8.00 and reservations are required. Please call 613-969-0130

Deseronto Diners' Club - A delicious meal will be served on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month in Deseronto. Join us at the Lion’s Hall and enjoy the meal with us. The cost is $6.00. Please call 613-396-6591.

Melrose Diners' Club - Every 2nd Thursday of the month a delicious meal is served at Melrose United Church. The cost is $6.00 per person. Call 613-396-6591 for information. Come and enjoy a meal with us.

ACTIVITY PROGRAM

A weekly programme offering recreation and socialization in a group setting for older adults. Weekly activities may include games, lunches, crafts and entertainment. Transportation may be available for eligible clients.

55 ALIVE

The 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course is designed to help older drivers maintain their independence and their driving privileges.  The next 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course is scheduled for April 27 and April 29 from 9am until noon each morning. Cost of the course will be $35.00 and includes workbook, certificate and refreshments. For more information, please contact Janis at 613-969-0130.

FOOTCARE (Deseronto Only)

The VON comes to Deseronto on the fourth Wednesday of each month to provide Footcare. The cost is $19.00 and receipts are available.

Come out and shop! The Community Care Closet on Main Street in Deseronto has lots of bargains (gently used clothing and a number of knick knacks). Donations may be dropped off at the office in Deseronto, or for your convenience, small donations may be dropped off at the Belleville office.
